Optimize Transmission Performance & Prevent Overheating While Towing!
Modern vehicles utilize an electronic thermostat valve controlled by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) to regulate transmission temperature. By default, this valve is fully open (100%) to allow maximum coolant flow. However, under standard operation, the PCM actively modulates the valve—restricting flow—to bring transmission fluid up to a higher operating temperature quickly.
What We Discovered:
Through extensive testing, we found that the PCM never commands the thermostat valve to open fully once the engine is running. As a result, the transmission often runs at temperatures exceeding 200°F, particularly during demanding conditions like towing. This can contribute to long-term wear and reduced transmission lifespan.
The Solution:
Our Thermostat Valve Bypass Kit overrides the factory electronic control, forcing the valve to remain in its default 100% open position. This enables full coolant flow to the transmission cooler, significantly improving heat dissipation.
Proven Results:
Real-world towing scenarios have demonstrated a consistent reduction in transmission temperatures by 25°F or more, helping to maintain ideal operating conditions and improve the longevity of your transmission.
Important Note:
Without our integrated bypass electronics, unplugging the factory valve triggers a fault detection in the ECM (Engine Control Module), resulting in:
- A Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC)
- Activation of the Check Engine Light (CEL)
Our system includes the necessary electronics to prevent these issues, ensuring a seamless installation without triggering diagnostic alerts.
